McVicars became so busy fabricating and installing granite and other stone countertops that he sold the construction business to devote 100% of his time and efforts at Granite Concepts with the help of his wife Julie and their son in law Mark Darnell. The company continued its rapid growth and when it became too large for the home shop and office he’d started in eight years prior, McVicars made the move to the company’s current location off Highway 12, across the river from the Clearwater Paper.
The new location consisted of an 8500 sq. ft. shop along with more land to house the growing slab inventory. And in 2014, McVicars’ son, Chad, and Mark Darnell purchased Granite Concepts. Soon Granite Concepts shifted to digitally templating and cutting slabs with a CNC saw/jet which increased through put in the shop dramatically.
A few years later Granite Concepts purchased a CNC router to handle the polishing needs of the process. In 2019, Granite Concepts welcomed Eric Johnson as Sales manager, who brought his 15 years of countertop sales experience to the company. In the next two years, Granite Concepts experienced tremendous growth and was once again needing more space. The acquisition of the neighboring lot in 2020 at 4010 Hatwai Road provided the room for Granite Concepts to move inventory and construct a 4200 sq. ft. shop expansion more than doubling their size. The shop expansion was completed in 2021 and now housed an additional CNC router, along with a line machine, and additional water recycling unit.
Granite Concepts currently has 25 key employees to meet the needs of our commercial and residential clients across the inland northwest.
